Srinagar, January 23 (KNO): Three local militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in an encounter that broke out between forces and militants in Binner village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday morning.
Sources in the police told KNO that encounter raged after Army’s 46 RR, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation at Jamia Mohalla, Binner area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla District on Tuesday night following the inpouts about the presence of militants there.
The district police in a tweet had stated that the exchange of fire between militants and joint team of police and forces took place in outskirts of village Binner Baramulla.
During the search operation, the militants who were hiding in the hideout there fired upon the search party, which was retaliated thus leading to an encounter.
In the gunfight, there militants were killed who have been identified as Shoab Akhoon operational Commander of LeT Commander from Khanpora, Mohsin Mushtaq Divisional Commander from Qazihama and Naseer Darzi from Jamia Mohalla Old Town Baramulla.
Police said that two weapons were recovered from their possession besides other incriminating material.
They further added that the search is still on at the encounter site.(KNO)
